Information to the research projects can be found on this website. The projects are divided into the sections "Protection and rescue of people", "protection of critical infrastructure", "protection against crime and terrorism", "society and the economy" and "cross-cutting issues and activities".
A characteristic feature of the security research programme is the application-oriented work in the projects, involving the entire innovation chain from research to industry to the end users. But, since security cannot be achieved simply by developing and deploying technologies, the projects assess the comprehensive solutions based on aspects such as ethical, legal and data protection consequences too. An integral part of the work on these societal issues is research on the training requirements for emergency and security personnel and preparation of decision-making aids for authorities and emergency services. The research also covers cost/benefit analyses of the individual security measures.
